MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The No. 5 Oregon Ducks held a 13-0 lead over the No. 4 Texas Tech Red Raiders at Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday afternoon in the Capital One Orange Bowl, a College Football Playoff quarterfinal that will determine which team advances to the CFP semifinals. Oregon scored via two field goals and a second-half touchdown, according to live scoring and game statistics.

Oregon’s offense struck first with a long field goal before adding another in the second quarter. The Ducks broke the stalemate in the third with a six-yard rushing touchdown by Jordon Davison after a turnover on a Texas Tech fumble. Texas Tech’s defense forced multiple stops and interceptions but had not reached the end zone as of the latest update. SI

The quarterfinal matchup is part of the 2025-26 College Football Playoff bracket, with the winner set to face either No. 1 Indiana or No. 9 Alabama in the Peach Bowl semifinal on Jan. 9. Oregon (12-1) earned its Orange Bowl berth by defeating James Madison 51-34 in the first CFP round, while Texas Tech (12-1) entered with a first-round bye after clinching the Big 12 title.

Oregon’s Dan Lanning and Texas Tech’s Joey McGuire both addressed the media before kickoff, highlighting the stakes of their first CFP quarterfinal appearances. McGuire noted respect for Oregon’s offensive talent, including quarterback Dante Moore, while emphasizing Texas Tech’s defensive preparation.

The Ducks built their lead through a blend of offensive execution and takeaways, converting a Texas Tech turnover into their lone touchdown. Texas Tech’s offense, led by QB Behren Morton, struggled to find rhythm despite opportunities inside Oregon territory late in the third quarter.

With a spot in the national semifinals on the line, the Orange Bowl quarterfinal has drawn widespread viewership on ESPN and significant fan attendance. Both teams entered ranked in the top five of the final CFP standings, with Oregon favored by oddsmakers by a slim margin. Wikipedia
